The Depth of God’s Love - Whispers in the Wind blog
But personally I don't think me or a lot of people would be willing to lose everything, to sacrifice ourselves for someone that hated us. Someone who wanted to kill us, someone who would risk their life to destroy our life.
There are many people in the world who are good people. Who are kind, generous, selfless. But I think that the willingness to die for someone who has willingly gone against you, someone who wants you dead. I think that willingness, selflessness, that love, can only come from someone who is love.
When Jesus died on the cross, when He died for our sins, He sacrificed Himself for everybody, not just the people who loved Him, but also the people who hated Him, the people who wanted Him dead.
I think that this really shows the depth of God's love for us. God loved us so much that even when we turned away from Him, when we hated Him, He was still willing to die to save us.
I think sometimes we feel really far away from God and we start thinking, "Where Is God?" Or "If God really loved me he wouldn't let these horrible things in my life happen." I think when we are angry about something, when we are upset about something we want to find someone to blame, we want to find someone to be angry at, someone to take all are pain out on. And I think a lot of times that person is God. If we lose someone we love we blame God because He didn't heal that person and He could've healed them. When our life is falling apart we blame God because He could've spared these horrible things from happening to us.
I know that when I was struggling with my addiction I really wanted to blame what happened on someone else and God was one of my choices. And I think in a lot of situations where terrible things happen I don't think finding someone to blame is exactly the best move, I think it actually tends to break us more than if we just accept what happened and try our best to heal. When people die their cause of death is not God, and really if they gave their life to God, they are not really gone.
And I think that is something that people really need to learn to understand is that in some situations there really is no one to blame, and even if there is someone to blame, pointing fingers doesn't fix anything, getting angry and blaming people doesn't fix anything. And I think that is something that I really struggle with and something I really need to learn.
But anyways I got a bit off topic there but back to the topic of God's love.God loves us. He loves us so much that He sacrificed Himself so that we could live. We cursed Him and we turned from Him and He still died so that we could live. You are seen, you are heard, and you are loved. God sees you. He loves you. He knows you. There are billions of people in the world and God loves us so much that He gets to know every single one of us.
